Throughout the Middle East, Rami Malek and Bella Hadid's Arab ancestry is a matter of pride for many fans.

But, just because every Arab fan girl and boy knows that Malek's family comes from Egypt and Hadid's father hails from Palestine, it doesn't mean the two celebrities know each other.

In fact, Malek (Mr. Robot) just made it quite clear that, at least until recently, he had no idea who Hadid (crowned Model of the Year by GQ in 2016) was.

Talking to People Magazine, Malek admitted that he was dancing with Hadid in Paris and was completely unaware of her celebrity status.

"I’m not as in touch with things as I should be. I was dancing in Paris the other night with Bella Hadid and didn’t know who she was," Malek said.

Apparently, Malek isn't "on social media," and he used this incident as an example to demonstrate how disconnected this makes him.

But, despite the mildly embarrassing incident, Malek seems to think his life is better without launching online social channels.

"I’m not crazy about social media, because I think it’s a little bit polarizing," Malek told Stephen Colbert on his late show in August.

"It’s difficult to figure out exactly what’s happening on social media. Things seem very manicured. I think it pits people against each other," he said.

Of course, Malek has every right to his opinions and decisions.

But seriously, bruh, you didn't even know Bella Hadid?

Our question: did she recognize him?
