In an effort to constantly expand and improve its offerings, Qatar Airways has launched a service focused specifically on transporting live animals.
The enhanced service, called QR Live, promises to provide "special care" for your prized horses, household pets, livestock and exotic animals.
According to a flyer [PDF] promoting QR Live, Qatar Airways' experienced team ensures "a stress-free journey for the animals" and "round-the-clock care, the deployment of temperature-controlled compartments on board our freighters and cabin pressure system to provide a comfortable environment for the animals."
Although the Gulf airline already catered to animals – particularly horses – the launch of QR Live places added emphasis on and expands the service.
"We ensure the animals receive special care and treatment all the way, on the ground as well as in the air. As a committed member of IATA, we comply with the Live Animal Regulations, which set out strict guidelines regarding the welfare of animals during transportation," the airline's Head of Cargo Ulrich Ogiermann said, according to Doha News .
But don't worry, no illegal exotic animals will be transported...
With the illegal trade of exotic animals – alive and dead – a problem in the Gulf and globally, Qatar Airways has previously committed to take a stand against the practice.
Expanding its service for animals also adds to the airline's rapidly growing cargo service.
Last year, the airline became the third-largest cargo carrier in the world.
