The latest viral video to be taking the netizens of planet Earth by storm comes from beyond the limits of our atmosphere, from a place little is known about: space. The video encapsulates over 12,500 images taken of Earth aboard the International Space Station in a breath-taking timelapse.

Alexander Gerst, the flight engineer responsible for the short film, flew on board the ISS for approximately six months and managed to orbit the Earth and capture its beauty via film. The result was a visually stunning representation of the ever-changing atmosphere of the planet we call home as well as the flickering of humanity on the pale blue dot.

You can check out the video below, but fair warning from us, it might revive those childhood dreams of wanting to be an astronaut all over again. Crank up the display settings, get some earphones in, and enjoy Alexander Gerst’s Earth timelapses with us.
