In Dubai, we're always on the lookout for a new live music spot, because we know that no night is more memorable than one with a rockin' performance that hits all the right notes. But with restaurants, bars and lounges mushrooming almost every month, it's hard to keep track. It's difficult to parse through them and figure out which of these offer live performances...good ones. Because as we all know too well, going to a bad live performance is one of those things akin to torture. That’s why we are here to help you.
Try these 4 new fantastic venues:
1. Indie - DIFC
DIFC offers an abundance of places to choose from, but if dancing and singing is what you are after then you should choose Indie restaurant and lounge. Off Beat Wednesday’s will have you grooving to the most recent pop songs performed by an energetic band, while munching on eclectic global cuisine and sipping fresh cocktails.
Extra tip: the place is relatively small so booking a table for dinner is essential.
2. Mayta – DIFC
Another great spot in DIFC to enjoy live music is Mayta. This contemporary Peruvian restaurant offers two of the most popular things amongst Dubaians: exotic food and Latin music. You might want to brush up on your salsa moves before heading there on Thursday night.
Extra tip: stop by the nearby LaLuz to get into the Spanish/Latin mood and try some seriously unique cocktails.
3. Lock Stock & Barrel – Grand Millennium Hotel
From happy hour and Friday roasts to meter long flat breads and craft beers, Lock Stock & Barrel has you covered. But the best part about this place is the live band every Monday and Wednesday. We enjoyed the acoustic version of songs from Kings of Leon, Bon Jovi and Aerosmith. It’s an ideal place in Dubai for a rock and roll night!
Extra tip: it’s also a good spot for watching football matches and the English Premier League games.
4. Blue Bar – Novotel World Trade Centre
The venue is not new, but the band is! Every Thursday night you will be transported to vibrant Beirut (minus the power outages and traffic jams) as Talal Kontar and his band take the stage in Blue Bar to perform popular tunes from the Lebanese folklore and Rahbani Brothers' canon in addition to their original songs. The Libanista night is great to enjoy a night of live Arabic music. There aren’t many nights like these in Dubai.
Extra tip: the place also hosts jazz bands on several days of the week.
