If there is one thing that most Egyptian dramas have in common this Ramadan, it is undoubtedly the themes of murder and psychiatric illnesses.
If you haven’t noticed this common theme yet, maybe you will after taking a look at the plots of these 6 Ramadan series:
1. Al Khorooj (The Exit)
This thriller seems to be inspired by the Hollywood blockbuster "Seven." The plot revolves around a temperamental cop trying to capture a serial killer who is waging his own sick war against corruption and injustice.
2. Saba’a Arwah (Seven Souls)
This is another thriller with a plot about a retired cop who gets involved in a mysterious crime, in which the victims, who are supposedly dead, keep appearing and disappearing like ghosts.
3. Grand Hotel
Yes, more crimes, but this time in 1940s Egypt. A man is investigating the suspicious disappearance of his sister who worked at the prestigious Grand Hotel, only to discover that she has been murdered. He sets out to discover who killed her while falling for one of the hotel residents.
4. Soqoot Hurr (Free Fall)
Nelly Kreem comes back this Ramadan as a mentally disturbed mother accused of murdering her sister and husband who appear to have been involved in an affair… but did she actually do it?
5. Fawq Mostawa El Shubuhat (Above Suspicion)
For the first time, legendary actress Yousra appears as the "baddie." She is an influential woman who finds herself forced to murder her sister’s psychiatrist in order to protect her troubled past from resurfacing.
6. Heya wa Da Vinci (Her and Da Vinci)
Ghosts and murder come together in this psychological thriller. Laila Elwi plays a lawyer who can communicate with the ghost of a painter, who seeks her help to discover who murdered him.
