Iraq's Postal Service honored two of the country's most prominent architects, Zaha Hadid and Mohamed Makiya, with commemorative postal stamps recognizing their work and achievements.
Both Hadid and Makiya changed the way architecture is perceived throughout the Arab world, making a mark on the art industry all around the world.
Initiative deserves all the credit. Issuing a commemorative stamp for the deceased prominent architects Zaha Hadid and Mohamed Makiya.
Salute to those who strive for initiative. And mercy and appreciation for all those who have slipped away.
The first woman to receive the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2004, Hadid designed buildings all around the world, including Spain, Lebanon, Germany and the United States. Hadid died on March 31, 2016.
Makiya's work has been investigated in numerous books and articles. His most important work was an extension to the Khulafa Mosque in Baghdad, which was completed in 1963. Makiya died in 2015 at the age of 101.
We don't think these stamps will see much use, as architecture fans around the world snap them up.
