In yet another achievement for the emirate, Dubai ranked sixth in the Emporis Skyline Ranking .

Emporis, a real estate data management firm, ranks cities "by the visual impact of their skylines. It is drawn entirely from statistics in this website's database, and reflects only completed high-rise buildings as defined by the Emporis Standards Committee," according to the company.

Coming in at No. 1, Hong Kong takes the gold followed by New York City and Singapore. Moscow and Seoul also beat out Dubai coming in at 4th and 5th. Chicago, Shanghai, São Paulo, and Bangkok also made the top 10.

In total, the ranking included 100 cities. Regionally, Istanbul did favorably at 21 and Abu Dhabi followed at 34. Doha, Sharjah, Kuwait City, and Ankara also made the top 100, although all ranked below 50.

The Emporis ranking also includes individual statistics for each city on the list. Dubai is said to have 1,910 buildings, 917 of which are high-rises.

According to Emporis, the formula for ranking skylines is done by assigning each building "points based on its floor count. The point total for each city is calculated automatically and displayed." Of course, the site also points out that Dubai's Burj Khalifa remains the tallest building in the world.

Dubai also came in 6th on Emporis' ranking comparing cities based on number of skyscrapers, beat out by Hong Kong, New York City, Tokyo, Chicago, and Shanghai.
