An EgyptAir  plane was hijacked Tuesday morning as it was heading from Alexandria to Cairo with 81 passengers on board.

The airline released a statement saying that all passengers on board have been released except for the crew and four foreign nationals. Eight of the total passengers were British and 10 were American, airport security sources told Reuters .

It was reported that the hijacker was wearing an explosive-packed belt forcing the plane's pilot to land in Larnaca, Cyprus. However, people all over the world are questioning Egypt's airport security, especially considering it's been only five months since a Russian aircraft crashed over Egypt's Sinai peninsula, leaving 224 people dead.

However, the latest reports have said that the hijacker just wanted to deliver a letter to his ex-wife? Sources have also said no explosives were found on the aircraft.
