"Discussing, exposing and satirizing the political scene here in the States is something I am very excited about and hopefully I will be able to get Fusion in trouble along the way. Between issues like guns, white supremacist militias and Donald Trump, I am certain we won't be lacking in any material," Youssef told Hollywood Reporter.

Kathy Egan, who formerly produced American satirist Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show," has been brought on to produce the new series.

"Bassem is one of the world's most astute and therefore dangerous satirists – he knows how to get people fired up about important issues," Fusion's head of comedy Bryan Carmel told Hollywood Reporter. "We can't wait to see what he learns about American democracy during this unique election year."

Arab fans and fans throughout the world have been eagerly awaiting Youssef's return to the screen. His Egyptian show "Al-Bernameg" was canceled by MBC in 2014, with Youssef later announcing that he would no longer be making the show.

We're just glad to have him back!
