"Project Runway" is returning to the Middle East – this time led by Lebanese fashion icon Elie Saab.

"My role in the programme is an integral part of my constant desire to develop the fashion industry in the Arab world, striving for ultimate excellence and sophistication in Art, craft and workmanship; factors that will allow us to streamline the Arab fashion industry and turn it into a more global one,” Saab said in a press release.

"Project Runway Middle East," which will air on MBC later this year, will feature Saab as the head judge joined by Tunisian-Italian fashion icon Afef Jnifen and a different guest judge each episode. Saudi national Faris Al Shehri will act as the mentor, in the position that Tim Gunn fills on the American version of the show, while Lebanese-Australian model Jessica Kahawaty will present the show.

“Throughout the season, we will work towards strengthening the talented participants’ skills, by developing their artistry in fashion design through the use of innovative techniques and the exquisite materials," Saab said. "Each episode will feature a different theme, challenging the contestants to adopt better concepts and so on. This unique opportunity will help open wide fashion doors to participating talents.”

The show has already begun production in Lebanon and will air in the last quarter of 2016 on MBC4 and MBC Masr with the grand finale set to be broadcast live from the Dubai Design District - d3.

Considering the explosive growth in the region's fashion scene since an Arabic version of "Project Runway" last aired in 2007, MBC is sure to have a hit on its hands.
