Don't go asking your boss for a vacation just yet -- Jordan's getting 9 days off for Eid. If you haven't had the time to plan a trip out of the kingdom or you're a little short on cash, worry not. Jordan has plenty in store, and we're here to guide you through our national treasures.

Let's get one thing out there first: don't bother to book a hotel in Aqaba or the Dead Sea. That train has passed and they're all fully booked.

Now that we've got your typical vacation options out of the way, here's your alternative Eid-in-Jordan guide.

1. Hit the road jack

Grab some friends and/or family, a long playlist of roadtrip-worthy music and hit the road. Your best bet for a full day trip is to leave Amman early drive up to Irbid and on your way back to the capital stop by Jerash and Salt. Irbid is Jordan's second largest city that's filled with vibrant restaurants and cafe. Jerash shows you the more historic side of Jordan, where you can check out ancient Roman ruins. And Salt by far has one of the beautiful landscapes in Jordan as well as a bunch of historic houses and churches.

2. Take a hike

If you're looking for a hiking trail, your knee jerk reaction is probably to book a ticket to Beirut or Europe. Don't. Jordan has valleys that are absolutely epic. Namely: Wadi Mujib, Wadi Hassa, Wadi Karak and Wadi Heba . Be sure to book a hiking guide. Some of these are desert hikes, others are more green. But you can't go wrong with these choices. The rock formations are a natural wonder.

If you don't want to work up a sweat and just enjoy the cool summer breeze, I recommend you go to the less hiking-intensive, but equally beautiful Umm Qais . Hike up the hill that overlooks an incredible landscape of Sea of Tiberias, the Golan Heights and the Yarmouk River.

3. Wish upon a shooting star

Your best option for a clear sky and some solitude (the desert has a way of making you feel the peace of aloneness even if you're with a group of 100 friends) is Wadi Rum . We know it's a bit a cliche but this is one of those things that are cliche for a good reason! Get your sleeping bag, lay down on the sand and gaze up the stars. Be sure to socialize with the Bedouins: their stories give the experience a whole new layer of meaning.

If you wait till the moon sets late in the night you're in for a magical night wishing on shooting stars.

4. Pamper yourself

You have two options; either you take your Eid money and spend it on an amazing day at the spa or go out and spend it on the many outdoor bars, lounges and restaurants spread across the city. If you opt for the first option and you want to splurge, then book yourself a day at the Four Season's spa. It's worth every penny.
