Lebanese contestant Lynn Hayek has become the first winner of MBC's new hit reality singing competition " The Voice Kids," beating out Syrian contestants Amir Ammouri and Zein Obeid.
The March 5 finale began with a special Arabic rendition of "We Are the World," where children from S.O.S. took part in the heart-warming performance along with the top 6 contestants, leaving the audience in awe of the young children's talent.
The celebrity judges then kicked off the show with a few words. Kadim Al Sahir from Iraq spoke about his secret project with the 15 contestants who had previously lost during the season. He explained that he invited them all for a session of catching up during which everyone was laughing and having a good time, contrary to the tears that are shown on the show.
Sahir also told StepFeed during a commercial break of the live finale that he extremely enjoyed his experience in this version of the show. Comparing it to his experience with the regular adult version of the show, he was shocked to find out that training kids was much easier than training adults.
"The kids have great confidence, wonderful talent, and they were brilliant. They would memorize any song in the course of 2 hours," he told StepFeed. Sahir also said that it was much harder to tell kids that they didn't make the cut rather than adults, who know they will have other opportunities.
Egyptian judge Tamer Hosny spoke about the show's message of hope, saying it counters the images of war and conflict in the region for Arab children. Hosny also gave the audience his word to keep up with the children and include them in future projects.
Lebanese judge Nancy Ajram expressed her excitement for the children as well as her fear about the kids during the finale. She said that parents should raise their children with the idea that winning or losing isn't the point, the experience is what matters. Ajram also thanked the contestants for bringing joy to the homes of the Arab world.
Sahir's team, Mirna Hanna from Iraq and the eventual winner Hayek, was the first to perform. After their individual performances, Sahir sang "Tazakar," accompanied by his two protégées. Both girls then held hands as the results were being announced, seeing Lynn Hayek move on to the next round.
Next up was Ajram's team: Obeid from Syria and Ghady Bechara from Lebanon. Obeid ended his performance by heading straight to Ajram's chair and giving her a rose, drawing much applause from the studio audience. The two boys and Ajram then performed the singer's hit song "Maakoul Al Gharam" before Obeid was announced as the one to move on to the final round, leaving Bechara in tears.
Hosny's team was the last to perform and consisted of Ammouri from Syria and Joyara Hamdi from Egypt. The two children performed "Yana Ya Ma Feesh" with Hosny before Ammouri was named the finalist from Hosny's team.
