Maybe it was the Chinese theme, but Lebanese designers weren't feeling the love from the A-list at this year's Met Gala Ball, the annual star-studded event that raises money for the Met’s Anna Wintour Costume Center.
Despite usually showcasing some dresses at high fashion events such as the Oscars or Paris Fashion week, Lebanese designers Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad were conspicuously in short supply at this year's Met Gala.
Lebanon's Amal Alamuddin Clooney, internationally renown barrister and wife of George Clooney, donned John Galliano for the avant-garde Belgian brand Maison Margiela. Her tiered, sparking red gown spoke to the China theme and had the press buzzing about her role as a fashion icon.
Other showstoppers included Rihanna's yellow ball gown that took up a large portion of the red carpet and Beyonce's barely there but still elegant rhinestone dress.
Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, who has chaired the event for many, many years, donned an orange-and-red floral couture gown from Chanel.
Wintour, who was the subject of the movie and book "The Devil Wears Prada," instituted a selfie ban for this year's festivities.
We hear you, Anna.
