Admit it. We've all be there, sitting there alone or maybe with friends, with our empty coffee cups in front of us. We start to think about the future and then remember, the secrets of our destiny are right in front of us, in the grounds of coffee sticking to the bottom of our empty cups, with no one to read them.
But not any more. Created in Lebanon by M. A. Chidiac Studio, the new Bassarah app promises to read your fortune from your coffee.
According to the app's description, it will bring "fun to your coffee time." All you have to do is, "sit back, and experience coffee cup reading the way it's meant to be."
The app's skilled symbol reader Nadira will give you all the answers you ever need, in Arabic.
Just snap a quick picture of your empty cup and Nadira will read your fortune. While she does gives some harsh advice (like that you are a prisoner to your past), it is mostly generic platitudes about your family, friends and future.
After the reading is done, you can make a wish and smudge the inside of the cup on the phone. And presto - Nadira tells you the likelihood of your wish coming true, saving the mess of upside-down cups and dirty fingers.
Even though Bassarah's website includes the disclaimer that it is, "by no means related to actual fortune telling, magic or any sort of divination," we're just going to ignore that. We'd much rather revel in the belief that the answers to all of life's mysteries are just a few swipes and clicks away.
