King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals ranked No.1 in the 2016 regional edition of QS University Rankings, a ranking of the top 200 institutions in the Arab region.

King Fahd University ranked No.199 globally, No. 46 in mineral and mining and No. 98 in engineering and technology.

In 2015, King Fahd University also ranked No.1 in the region, making this its second time topping the ranking.

Globally, the university's ranking has improved greatly over the last four years. Up from 216 in 2013, the prestigious university now stands at No.199 in the world.

Regionally, the American University of Beirut came in second followed by King Saud University.

Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar and the UAE all have at least one university listed in the top 10!

QS also released a ranking of the world's strongest higher education systems with the United States coming in first. Across the Arab region, Saudi Arabia ranked 36 globally and first regionally, followed by Lebanon (44), Egypt (47) and the UAE (48).
