JadaL, the Jordanian band that helped to create the unique sound of Arabic rock, has given its fans a chance to win some money by creating a new music video in collaboration with Red Bull. With $3,000 in prizes available as well as the promise of fame and possible future collaboration on more video projects, fans are likely racing to complete their submissions by the June 12 deadline.

Mahmoud Radaideh first formed the band back in 2003. Speaking to Cairo Scene, he said, "Back then there was nothing that you can call Arabic Rock. I tried to define this genre with JadaL’s sound. It was something really new but now it’s common.”

JadaL isn't the first regional band to turn to their fans to help create a music video. Earlier this year, the Lebanese band Mashrou' Leila partnered with Absolut's Transform Today platform to collaborate with fans on both song lyrics and the direction of a new music video.

The competition by JadaL will award a first and second prize. First prize winners will receive $2,000, their music video will be released as an official JadaL clip, and they will be given the chance to work on the band's next video as well. Second prize winners will receive $1,000 or a BlackMagic Cinema Pocket Camera, their video will possibly be released as an official music video, and they will have the chance to be part of the film crew on JadaL's next video.

Of course, all submissions must include a three to five seconds shot of a Red Bull can in one of the scenes. In a post-pirating world, bands have to make their money somehow.

Red Bull has been sponsoring Middle Eastern music talent for some time as part of its Red Bull Music Academy. In March, Red Bull hosted the "2-Nights Underground” music event in Beirut, bringing together some of the leading artists in the Middle East and North Africa as well as international acts. The brand also sponsors extreme stunts for its marketing efforts, such as extreme athlete Cedric Dumont's flight over the pyramids in February.

We're excited to see what JadaL's fans come up with. For the time being, we're rocking out to their older hits.
