Seven-year-old Syrian girl Bana Alabed is reading "to forget the war" in besieged east Aleppo, documenting her day to day life on Twitter.
JK Rowling did not let that pass her by. She sent out digital copies of Harry Potter books to Bana, who has shared images of herself reading them via her mobile phone.
Alabed wants the world to wake up to the crimes perpetuated against Aleppo, to put a face on the hundreds of children dying in the besieged Syrian city.
Helped by her mother and teacher, Alabed launched a Twitter account a few months ago, which has now garnered nearly 100,000 followers.
More than 250,000 people are trapped in east Aleppo as bombardment continues. All hospitals have been shuttered so there are no facilities to treat the hundreds wounded.
The city has been the victim of constant fighting throughout the Syrian conflict, and now the violence is coming to a head as the Syrian government and Russia try to crush rebels with a final blow. But civilians are trapped in the crossfires with no escape and now, no access to medical care.
