There are basically unlimited theories on who built the Pyramids of Giza and why. Some are actually pretty hysterically entertaining. In an attempt to lighten up our readers' moods, we have decided to just name a few of those bizarre theories.

Aliens built the Pyramids

Evidently, visitors from outer space landed on Earth sometime between 2589 and 2504 BC just to build the pyramids. Not only that, it is also believed that Egyptians pharaohs are in fact, alien hybrids.

Jewish slaves built the Pyramids

The belief that the Jewish slaves built the Pyramids is popular among the Jewish community. However, when the Israeli prime minister, Menachem Begin, visited Egypt's National Museum in Cairo in 1977 and stated "we built the pyramids," it was deemed to be "disrespectful" to the Egyptian history and its civilization and the notion was shunned by all Egyptians.

Slaves built the Pyramids

Contrary to popular belief, the Pyramids were not built by slaves, but were built by paid laborers, skilled craftsmen and strong hands. Slaves however, were used mostly in domestic work .

The Pyramids' interior are fully decorated

Though hieroglyphs cover the interiors of a variety of Ancient Egyptian tombs and palaces, the interior of the Pyramids of Giza are comparably bare. This belief arose when some hieroglyphs were found on a secret door in one of the three Pyramids.

The 'Illuminati' built the Pyramids

The 'underground' organization that supposedly rules our modern world and controls every aspect of it had a hand in building the Pyramids . Not only that, they had established strong ties with Egyptian pharaohs to run a "new world order" - Mind you, that was back in 2589 and 2504 BC.

The technology used to build the Pyramids appeared out of nowhere

The myth that the technology appeared out of nowhere is unfounded. For starters, scientists have excavated a number of tools used to build the Pyramids. Archaeologists believe that the tools were developed over a long period of time with the use of the simple method of trial and error.

The missing capstone

It's always been believed that the Pyramids had a top that is no longer there. Meaning, it's not pointed at the top, but is flat instead. The reality is, no one knows for sure if there was a capstone to begin with and therefore, some archaeologists say it never existed. However, with ancient knowledge and the history of the Ancient Egyptian civilization, the capstone is the most important piece of this great structure; an indicator that once upon a time, it was there.

Napoleon's visit the Great Pyramids

The story of Napoleon's visit to the Great Pyramids is indeed a fascinating one. Upon entering the Pyramids, he asked to be left alone in the King Khufu's chamber . Once he walked out, the first president of the French Second Republic appeared to upset and unnerved. Napoleon never spoke of what he had witnessed in the King's chambers and took the secret to his grave. As history indicates, Alexander the Great was also one of the influential historical figures that requested to spend time alone in King Khufu's chambers.

The Orion mystery

Other than the fact that Ancient Egyptians built and designed the Pyramids with great precision to implement multiple functions, it's known due to multiple studies of Egyptian mythology that Ancient Egyptians and the Pharaohs had a strong 'relationship' with the stars. For instance, they used them for guidance and therefore, it should come as to no surprise that they were correlated to the Orion belt.
