After upgrading to iOS 8 on my iPhone, I figured out immediately that I hate the QuickType predictive texting feature. Sometimes a guy just wants to say FUNNNNN. Also, Apple. It is never, ever DUCK.
If you are half as annoyed with it as I am, you probably want to figure out how to switch it off. Here are a few ways you can make this pesky feature disappear.
1. While typing
Maybe sometimes you like the feature and sometimes you hate it. That's okay, you can switch it off easily while you type. If you are getting annoyed while writing a message or text, simply hold your finger over the gray bar featuring the QuickType suggestions and swipe down. If you decide you want it back, just swipe the gray bar upward.
2. From the keyboard
Another way to turn off the feature quickly is through the keyboard. Select the small globe icon to the left of the microphone button. If you are used to switching between an Arabic and English keyboard, this will be a familiar button for you. At the top of the pop-up menu, there will be the option to turn the Predictive feature on or off.
3. Change in keyboard settings
This one is the most complicated but still very simple. Navigate to Settings and then select General. In the General menu, scroll down and select Keyboard. Once you arrive on the Keyboard menu, scroll down just a little bit and you'll see the option to switch the Predictive feature on or off.
Whichever way you prefer, none of them will take more than a few seconds. Notice the time on my screenshots above and you'll see it only took me four minutes to do it all three ways while taking pictures as well.
Happy texting and cheers to more accidental ducks.
