A young couple, Tara and Colin, moved to Amman, Jordan back in 2015, and couldn't help but fall in love with handmade, traditional embroidery while they were there.

That's when they decided to launch, Herfa Heritage, bringing traditional embroidery to modern street wear!

Having launched a Kickstarter campaign, the pair has teamed up with two Jordanian partners, Jobedu and Bawabet Al-Sharq workshop, to perfect 'traditional meets modern' t-shirts.

The Herfa patch designs are all named after an area in Jordan, making it all the more artistic. The pockets are hand embroidered by Jordanian women in their homes.

Aside from the patch design, you get to choose the patch color and the type of t-shirt you'd like to have.

"The Middle East has lots of powerful stories to tell, and we hope to spread those positive stories to our friends and family back in the States. Plus, we want to support important social causes and highlight the excellent craftsmanship here," the duo said on Kickstarter.

"One way to help women in the Middle East is to pay a fair wage for their crafts and build a strong company that will give them consistent business. Women are carrying on the long tradition of embroidery in the Arab world and this livelihood gives them the option to work from home while taking care of their households. "

The Herfa crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter is set to end May 10. The aim behind the campaign is to create a large initial order that would make their business cost effective when shipping items to the United States, where they hope to spread the beautiful stories of the Middle East through their shirts, while at the same time reducing their production costs in Amman.
