When Mohammed Yaghi was 12 years old, he dreamed – like many hopeful children – of becoming a film director. But unlike other children, Yaghi lived in the Gaza Strip, isolated from the rest of the world due to an apartheid wall installed by Israeli occupying forces.
Older now and after meeting Palestinians who share his passion for visual storytelling, Yaghi turned to the Internet for help. A lack of equipment and resources has stopped these aspiring filmmakers from producing and presenting their films to the world but with a starting goal of $18K, the Palestinian filmmakers hope it could bring about the needed change.
According to the campaign description, if the goal is fulfilled, Yaghi will raise the goal to $30K to collect money that will go directly into the mass production of Palestinian films, and with an additional $10K, the enthusiastic dreamer will be able to set up a local film festival to honor others for their creativity.
