Boeing projected in a new report published Monday that in the Middle East alone, there will be a need for 60,000 pilots and 66,000 technicians between 2015 and 2034. This is due to an expected increase in global commercial flights over the coming years as demand spikes.
Global demand in 2015 has already increased by more than 4 percent for pilots and 5 percent for technicians compared with the previous year.
Overall, Boeing estimates that the world will need 558,000 commercial airline pilots and 601,000 maintenance technicians.
"The challenge of meeting the global demand for airline professionals will not be solved by one company alone," said Sherry Carbary, vice president of Boeing Flight Services.
The company has provided training to a "record-breaking number" of pilots and technicians in multiple campuses around the globe and will increase the amount of training in time alongside "aircraft manufacturers, airlines, training equipment manufacturers, training delivery organizations, regulatory agencies and educational institutions."
