Former Arsenal forward Gervinho and Abu Dhabi side Al-Jazira have both denied reports suggesting the player made "obscene demands" that blocked his transfer to the UAE.
"I do not usually comment on transfer windows rumors but today some people have gone too far. I deny all the information published in recent hours about any transfer," Gervinho posted to Facebook.
Earlier reports had suggested the Ivory Coast striker, who currently plays for Italian club Roma, had ridiculous demands to complete a $15 million move to Abu Dhabi, including a request to use a helicopter, a private beach and jobs for his entourage. The reports said that the player's extravagant demands alerted the club that his attitude could cause problems in the dressing room, leading its board to cancel negotiations over a four-year deal.
But in an interview with France Football, Gervinho claimed the reports were false, saying: "I read of helicopters, private beaches and plane tickets. I have no idea where that information comes from, but I have never demanded such things."
"When I sign a contract, I don't care about those things. Everything that has been said about me is false," he added.
Al-Jazira confirmed in a statement on its official website that the deal didn't fall through as a result of the player's excessive demands, adding that negotiations with the player's club and representatives have stopped for "technical details."
Gervinho rejoined former Lille coach Rudi Garcia at Roma for $9 million in 2013 from Premier League club Arsenal. But after showing promise early on, he scored only 24 appearances last season.
The players is still expected to leave the Italian capital but will now turn up for his team's first training camp of the summer on July 5.
