Dubai's Crown Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed has just approved the introduction of a 35 dirham ($9.50) fee for passengers using the emirate's airports.
This charge also includes transit passengers, but it doesn't include passengers under 2-years-old or cabin crew. Passengers whose arrival and departure flight number is the same will also be exempt from the fee.
According to Arabian Business, Dubai Airports predicted that 85 million passengers will use Dubai International this year. Only last month, Dubai International increased its capacity from 75 million to 90 million by opening Concourse D.
Airlines will be responsible for collecting the fees with ticket prices for flights leaving Dubai's airports after June 30. They will then transfer the collected fees to Dubai Airports, which will later transfer the funds to the public treasury.
