I have a theory. Having watched all ten seasons of Friends over three times in full ... I have come to realize something.
It has a little to do with Joey Tribbiani's character (played by Matt LeBlanc) ... I really think he's secretly an Arab.
I mean his name alone could easily be Youssef, right? But it was changed to Joe, and then Joey.
To hide this very real fact, the producers of the show -and after changing his name- added a dash of Italian ancestry to the mix. Even though Arabs and Italians are really similar, we're not falling for it.
Because no matter what you do, name, ancestry and all, there are certain traits about his character that make him undeniably Arab, and they are:
1. He never apologizes for overinduldging in food ... even when it's a bit too much
2. Speaking of food ... he doesn't ever WASTE a piece of anything ... cuz "haram"
"Haram yenkab shi."
3. Layering is not seasonal ... it's something your mother forced you to do
4. No matter how broke ... he will always help out his loved ones
Generosity = Arab by blood.
5. Hand gestures are the only way he knows how to describe size
6. He is not afraid to show his emotions ... even if that comes with a *little* added drama
To2borny, ya albe, ya 3yoone... Come on, is there anything more dramatic than the way Arabs show their love?
7. You learn about family emergencies at a very, very, very young age
Yup, Joey is definitely Arab.
