UN Women Arabic conducted a social experiment to demonstrate the views of gender roles in the Arab World in honor of International Women's Day on Mar. 8.

In the social experiment, 20 young men and women from seven Arab countries were asked to switch gender roles and to answer a series of questions from the perspective of the other gender-based on how gender roles are viewed in the region.

"What if we switched roles? Participate with us on #If_IWas_AWoman, #If_IWas_AMan. Wait for us today for a regional social experiment. World #Half_AndHalf."

In the video of the experiment, which was shot in cooperation with Egyptian production company Axeer Studio, the young men and women take on a variety of issues concerning gender equality.

They were asked to voice the views of gender roles in the Arab World when it comes to issues such as sexism in the household, domestic violence against women and the participation of women in the labor force.

The social experiment was conducted to promote gender equality in the Arab World in accordance with the UN Women's global initiative titled "Planet 50-50 by 2030".
