A team from University College London Qatar has just released a super cool interactive online atlas of Doha's development over the past century.
The interactive "Origins of Doha" map – the first of its kind in the region – allows users to see images and video clips of Doha from different time periods, discovering how the city has developed. Launched last week, the online resource will be gradually adding images and video as well as oral histories recorded during interviews with Qatari residents.
According to the website:
"The Origins of Doha is a UCL Qatar research project, supported by the Qatar National Research Fund and aims to explore the foundation and historic growth of Doha, its transformation to a modern city, and the lives and experiences of its people, through a combination of archaeological investigation, historical research and oral testimony."
So now you can see how Doha looked in 1947
And how much it developed in just 12 years by 1959
You can also catch a glimpse of the city in this 1960s video clip
And here is a look at Doha from all the way back in 1904
You can also find the location of interesting archaeological sites
