Rumors continue to fly surrounding Etihad Airways flight EY650, which was diverted to Al Minhad Air Base in Dubai Sunday morning.

The flight, whose original flight path was from Cairo to Abu Dhabi, was grounded following a security alert two hours and 10 minutes after take-off.

After Saudi-owned Al Arabiya channel said that there was a bomb threat against the plane, the idea spread quickly on social media. The Associated Press confirmed that Twitter accounts associated with ISIS posted threatening messages overnight that specifically mentioned the Etihad flight. However, spokespeople for Etihad have not yet confirmed anything regarding the reason for the security alert.

In a statement, an Etihad spokesperson said that, "A security alert was received by Etihad Airways at 8am (UAE time), at which time EY650 was diverted. It landed normally shortly after 9am. Passengers were disembarked from the aircraft. “

No suspicious materials were recovered from flight EY650. The Airbus A321 was carrying 128 passengers and seven crew members.

State news agency WAM said that investigations into the matter were underway.
