Could an Arab be the funniest person in the world?

Say what you will about Arabs, our impeccable sense of humor is undisputed. And now, we're finally getting the recognition for it we deserve.

Eight stand-up comedians from the Arab world are battling to claim the "Funniest Person in the World" at the Laugh Factory's 2016 content. They need our help to proceed to the next round for a chance at the $100,000 grand prize.

The first round of the competition is underway and the 89 contestants are competing for online votes. The top twenty contestants proceed to the semifinals, held in Finland this December.

The contest aims at promoting world peace through comedy since "laughter brings people closer, succeeding where diplomacy and democracy have failed".

Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Palestine, the United Arab Emirates and Tunisia are among the 56 countries represented in the international biennial competition. Here are the 8 Arab contestants who need our votes by October 2.
