Emirates has reclaimed its title as the world's best airline, marking its fourth nomination in the past 15 years.

This is the first time the airline has won the prestigious award from the leading consumer-aviation website Skytrax since 2013.

"We are honored to be recognized by the prestigious Skytrax awards," Emirates president Sir Tim Clark said in a statement . "Emirates has always put our customers at the heart of what we do, and we work hard to deliver the very best experience possible to our customers at every touchpoint, every day, all around the world."

Additionally, Emirates received the Best In Flight Entertainment Award and was named the Best Airline in the Middle East at the awards ceremony at the 2016 Farnborough Airshow on Tuesday.

"The IFE that Emirates provides is a continued focal point for passenger praise, and it is important to note that customers were not only impressed with the programming but also the superior hardware standards, particularly for the A380 fleet," Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted said in a statement.

The Dubai-based airline is also the world's largest international carrier, with some 250 wide-body airliners.

Of course, Gulf airlines normally top Skytrax annual ranking, with Qatar Airways having topped the ranking last year.

This year Qatar Airways moved down to No. 2 and Etihad Airways remained in the sixth place position. Qatar Airways also took home the award for World's Best Business Class this year and Etihad took home top awards for its first class apartments and seats.

Skytrax makes its rankings based on surveys completed by nearly 20 million passengers representing more than 100 countries.
