A number of reported Samsung Galaxy Note 7 battery explosions have forced Samsung to discontinue sales. The South Korean tech giant reported that it has lost over $3 billion as a result.

Now, Etihad Airways and Emirates Airlines have banned the smartphone on all flights.

In the US, it is a federal crime to bring the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on a flight.

The decision comes just days after the South Korean tech giant announced its decision to "stop production for the sake of consumer safety," according to Business Insider .

People were quick to react to Etihad's "safety comes first" decision. The airline answered each and every comment on the Facebook post where the announcement was made.

Some had to crack a joke

Which got a straight forward response

Others were asking legitimate questions

Many praised the decision all in all

Earlier in September, both airlines temporarily banned the in-flight use of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on its flights following explosions from faulty batteries.

These UAE-based carriers aren't the first to put a ban on the smartphone for travel safety purposes.
