Farida Osman, Egyptian athlete and world renowned swimmer, has just won the title of the "Best African Female Swimmer" in the 2015 Swammy Awards, setting yet another national and continental record.
Osman had a remarkable year as she broke not one, but four national and international records in 2015.
At the 2015 Arena Pro Swim Series, Osman broke her previous Egyptian record in the 50m butterfly and was able to set a new national and African record. Osman set another national Egyptian record at the same 50m freestyle race.
The young athlete set a third Egyptian and African record at the 2015 World Championship in Kazan, Russia, in the 50m fly race, beating her 25.88-second record. Osman also finished the 100m butterfly race , setting in new national record time of 58.22 seconds.
At the All African Games, which was held in the Republic of Congo this year, Osman broke a fourth national record in the women's 100m freestyle, finishing the race in just 55.41 seconds.
In 2013, Osman participated in the World Championship in Spain and was able to set a new national record during the semifinals of the 50m butterfly race, making her the first Egyptian to qualify for a final at FINA World Championships.
The 20-year-old came into the international spotlight in 2011 after becoming the first ever Egyptian to win a junior World Championship in the most anticipated event she participated event, the 50m fly.
