The Egyptian TV host, who aired the viral video of a tuk-tuk driver criticizing the Egyptian government, has been blocked from leaving Egypt.
Amr Ellissy was planning to visit the United Arab Emirates with his family, but airport officials stopped him from traveling.
The TV host posted on social media that he was "surprised" by the government's move and said he would pursue legal action.
"On my way to UAE with my family, I was shocked to know that there's a decision preventing me from traveling although I was not notified of the decision nor any notice of any accusation from any legal party. As a result, I will have to know the reason behind this decision and appeal for it through legal channels," his Facebook post says.
Elissy isn't an opposition figure. But he aired a three-minute video of a tuk-tuk driver blaming Sisi's government for the economic suffering of the Egyptian people on his Al-Hayat TV program "One of the People."
The video was widely shared and garnered more than 4.5 million views within hours, before being removed by TV station.
Despite being taken down, the tuk-tuk driver's impassioned speech spurred an online debate that reverberated across the Egyptian interwebs.
Hundreds of Egyptians have been imprisoned and some have simply disappeared since Sisi came to power in 2013.
Earlier this year, British-Lebanese TV host Liliane Daoud was detained and deported after strongly criticizing the government on her ONTV program.
Many activists have also been barred from traveling and some have seen their assets frozen.
