Dubai is among the top 10 global cities for green buildings, as revealed in a recent paper published by Solidiance, which measured cities for their green building performance across four different categories.
Being beat out by just seven other cities – of which Paris ranked No.1 – Dubai ranked No. 8 on the list, scoring strongly in the "green building efficiency and performance" category. The emirate received an overall score of 43.52 percent.
Considering Dubai only recently got into the green building movement, the overall ranking is quite impressive.
The emirate is working hard on its clean energy strategy, which calls for 7 percent of Dubai's energy to be derived from clean energy sources by 2020 with hopes to bump that number up to 75 percent in 2050.
"The UAE is running behind, compared to its European counterparts, but it won’t be like that for long," Saeed Al Abbar, Chairman of Emirates Green Building Council, said in the report.
Dubai has been really upping its game when it comes to the "Go Green" initiative.
