Back in 2009, Dubai unveiled plans to build six islands in what is called The Heart of Europe . The development will represent fifty-one European countries, giving people in the emirate a chance to experience a European trip, minus the traveling.

Although the plans for the project have been around for quite some time, phase one of the project will be completed by the end of 2016, with the rest finishing up by 2020.

Now, one of the islands, St. Petersburg, is going to turn into the Middle East's number one honeymoon destination!

The heart-shaped island aims to become the first resort in the UAE, made specifically for lovebirds in the region and from abroad.

Drawing inspiration from some of the most popular honeymoon hotspots,  including the Maldives, the island will most definitely satisfy the romantic in you.

"The honeymoon business is a multibillion-dollar industry, and we are excited by the prospect of newly married couples choosing to spend the most special holiday of their lives at St Petersburg Island very soon," said Josef Kleindienst, chairman of The Heart of Europe, according to Arabian Business .

"The five-star resort will offer privacy, tranquillity, and first-class hospitality to ensure a memorable and once-in-a-lifetime experience," he added.

Alongside a honeymoon island, Kleindienst is working to develop The Honeymoon Hotel on the Main Europe Island. This alternative choice for newlyweds is expected to open at the end of 2018.
