All the "Fast and Furious" drivers in Saudi Arabia better take note... the penalties for drifting just increased dramatically .
The previous 1,000 to 2,000 Saudi riyal fine just shot up to a minimum 20,000 Saudi riyal ($5,332) fine for first-time offenders!
Additionally, the drivers car will be impounded for 15 days.
And penalties multiply significantly for repeat offenders...
The fine doubles to 40,000 Saudi riyals for second-time offenders and the car will be impounded for 30 days. Third-time offenders will be slapped with a 60,000 Saudi riyal fine and their vehicles face potential permanent confiscation.
"The drifter does not harm himself only but the society as well," Dr. Thuraya al-Areed, member of the Saudi Shura Council, said, according to Asharq Al-Awsat .
"This decision will quickly put an end to this phenomenon, since tolerant punishments leave the door more open for breaching the law."
