Instagramers have a new tool to make their feeds stand out. Yesterday the popular photo-sharing app released Layout, an app that allows users to combine up to nine photos into one collage. The app allows users to select between a number of different layout options, so that users can rearrange their selection of images within the collage.
This isn't Instagrams first foray into add-on apps, as it previously released the popular Hyperlapse app, which allowed users to create and share time-lapse clips. There are also many other photo editing apps that are compatible with Instagram, including ones that allow users to make collages.
The unique aspect of the Layout app is its simplicity and usability. As the announcement via Instagram's website states, "it’s easier than ever to unlock your creativity." Utilizing the app provides a seamless connection between creating the collages via your smartphone photo library and sharing them on both Instagram and Facebook.
In a semi-creepy move, Layout also features a facial recognition tool that allows users to search through photos of friends in their phone library, automatically culling photos that have certain faces. Which is why we always rock the paparazzi shades.
Of course, being super Instagram addicts ourselves, we tried out the newest feature. Check out our first collage highlighting different aspects of Lebanon.
