Is it in Paris? The Maldives? Dubai? Or maybe New York City?
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. And still wrong. Guess again?
Drum roll please . . .
The winner is . . .
La Mamounia in Marrakech!
That's right, the Moroccan resort has taken the No. 1 spot on Conde Nast Traveller's Readers' Travel Awards 2015 . Readers were given two months to provide feedback on the travel destinations from around the world, ranking criteria such as service, design and value for money.
When all the results and calculations were in, La Mamounia came out the clear winner with a score of 93.76. Regionally, Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, also made the top 10 at No. 8.
So, what sets La Mamounia ahead of all the other resorts and hotels in the entire world?
It's probably a combination of its rich history (first opened in 1923), unique Moroccan design, excellent service, stellar facilities and – of course – delicious cuisine.
According to the hotel's website, nearly 100 years since it first welcomed guests, "There is still not a single wrinkle to be seen at Marrakech’s flawless La Mamounia as it continues enchant, captivate and amaze the thousands of people who still come in search of luxury, peace and a little bit of magic."
Well, if that doesn't draw you in and make you crave a few nights at this facility then maybe you should read about the hotel's lush green park, an oasis in the midst of the bustling city.
"La Mamounia’s 20-acre park is a legendary garden. Home to plentiful fruit trees that hang with seasonal fruit, with hundreds of flowers fragrantly perfuming the air in the shade of 100 year old olive trees, the abundance of foliage grows together naturally in subtle disarray."
If you're still not convinced that this is the best place to rest your traveler's head, take into consideration that La Mamounia is no stranger to topping rankings. Conde Nast Traveller previously named it "World’s Best Hotel Spa" in 2011. Tatler Travel Guide ranked it "Hotel of the Year" in 2010 and in the same year, Travel and Leisure called it "Best Resort."
If you were trying to figure out where to spend your next relaxing vacation, it would seem the choice just became clear. See you there!
