The Cairo Jazz Festival (CFJ) has announced the impressive lineup for its seventh edition, which is scheduled at The Greek Campus in Downtown Cairo from Oct. 15 to Oct. 18.

The annual international festival will host international jazz artists from 13 countries this year, in addition to a group of the top jazz artists and bands in Egypt.

Renowned Lebanese singer Rima Khcheich, who has collaborated with international jazz artists such as Yuri Honin and Simon Shaheen, will perform from her latest award-winning album "Hawa" on the first day in her first ever performance at the festival.

Also on the first day is a performance by one of Cairo's very own The Riff Band, which has become one of Egypt's most acclaimed jazz bands due to its unique combination of swing-era and contemporary music.

The festival's second day will witness a unique collaboration between the Danish Blood Sweat Drum 'n' Bass Orchestra and the virtuoso Iraqi oud player Naseer Shamm, in which they will present “The Road To Damascus” project, inspired by Nizar Qabbani's poems.

One of the main highlights of the festival is renowned Algerian singer and songwriter Souad Massi, whose concert will close the festival and include performances from her latest album "Al Mutkalimum."

In addition, the 2015 artist lineup includes Portugal's Elisa Rodrigues, Austria's Norber Schneider, France's L'Hijaz Car, the U.S.'s Todd Marcus, Morocco's Bob Magrib and Japan's Makiko Hirabayashi Trio.

It also includes the Egyptian bands Hawidro, Nour Project and Eftekasat, a performance from Venezuela's Mora with Australia's Rounds and Egypt's Tass and the Czech's Stepan Markovic with the Egyptian Akram El-Sharkawy Group.

The Cairo Jazz Fest is one of Cairo's most anticipated and popular cultural events; it was founded in 2009 by composer and producer Amro Salah to celebrate his love for jazz music and help it reach a wider audience.

The festival has come to be known for its combination of impressive international and local talent lineups. Over the years, it has hosted multiple famous international artists such as Gilberto Gil, Carles Benavent and Han Bennink, as well as multiple Egyptian and Arab rising jazz stars.
