In a recent survey, YouGov s urveyed residents of the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt on their consumer habits as part of its annual Ramadan study.

The research, which will continue to run throughout Ramadan and Eid, gives insight into the spending habits people tend to go for during Ramadan.

Over half of respondents will spend more during Ramadan; the majority of respondents (93%) expect to increase their spending primarily on groceries and food!

Consumers are more likely to buy food items regularly rather than in bulk, making discounts and price offs attractive to 78% of consumers in all three countries!

And residents in Egypt (69%) and Saudi Arabia (66%) prefer to stay in their home country during Ramadan compared to the UAE (52%)

That's because 43% of respondents in all three countries expect to travel during Eid!

“It is evident that although there is an increase in consumption and expenditure during Ramadan, consumers’ purchase patterns differ according to the type of product they are buying which impacts the offers they look out for. Brands need to take cognizance of this fact and design the right promotions tailored to specific product categories in order to stand out from the crowd and win the fight for consumer attention,” Pranay Dandekar, Head of consumer research for YouGov MENA said in a statement .
