Dubai International Airport has been named "Best Airport in the Middle East" at the Asian Freight, Logistics, and Supply Chain Awards, which was held in Shanghai.
Organized by Asia Cargo News, the awards recognize the best of the logistics industry including air and shipping lines service providers, air and sea ports and other associated industry professionals.
“We are very pleased to have been chosen as the best airport in the region particularly because the award is given based on the choice of thousands of readers, many of whom have experienced the state of the art facilities, service quality and efficiency of Dubai International,” Anita Mehra, senior vice president of communications & reputation at Dubai Airports, said in a statement .
The 15,000 readers and subscribers of the publication first nominate the leading companies in the market, which is then followed by a vote to determine the best of the best.
DXB is currently the second busiest airport globally for international air freight volumes, having handled 2.5 million tons in 2015.
This is not the first time Dubai's airport ranks highest in the region. In 2015, Conde Nast Traveller released the World’s Best Airports ranking, which saw DXB come in at No.5 globally.
