The Goethe-Institut Lebanon and the KfW-foundation are launching "Beirut Short Stories" in 2016 after 2 successful years of the project in Cairo. Young authors residing in Lebanon and writing in Arabic are encouraged to apply for the program that offers a series of workshop with project director Hussain Al-Mozany, giving participants mentoring from a professional and feedback from other writers through joint discussions.

Anyone residing in Lebanon aged 20 to 39 can apply by submitting an unpublished short story of theirs. The jury will pick 10 to 12 participants who will be given the chance to experience the writing world first-hand.

This initiative is an attempt at promoting young authors in the Arab world, encouraging young inexperienced writers to go out and discover their talents through discussions and jury evaluations. The deadline for applications is Jan. 1.
