Translation and transliteration are always tricky, regardless of the language. When adding the additional complication of different alphabets and different vocal sounds, the issues can get even more complicated.
Forget the bathroom soup, here are some of our favorite attempts at transliterating English directly into Arabic.
1. Bolz Kafe
This sign is a little too "open" in its meaning.
2. Meenee Halb
We don't even know why this would be a good name in English.
3. Sbeshal Welaj
What a special sign.
4. Bik 'es' Mart
Kteer bik, we promise!
5. Wen Bradrz
We are pretty sure there is a word for brothers in Arabic. Pretty sure.
6. Woees Internashional
We are working on our woees for karaoke all week.
And our all-time favorite transliteration, albeit from Arabic into English. It is pretty punny.
