Syrian rebel groups launched a campaign Sunday in an attempt to break through government-held parts of Aleppo and reach the opposition-controlled areas under siege.

Government forces cut-off routes in and out of the Syrian city in mid-July, placing an estimated 275,000 people under siege. Last week, Syrian President Bashar Assad and Russian allies announced that a joint "corridor" in the besieged area was open, according to France 24 .

However, that has not been confirmed by the people.

"We have been talking to our contacts inside Aleppo and none of them have been able to confirm people are using these so-called corridors," Pablo Marco, head of the Middle East program for Doctors Without Borders, told France 24 .

People have taken to social media under the hashtag #AleppoUnderSiege, and the posts will break your heart.

From pictures of Aleppo burning...

To people in Aleppo describing what life is really like in the area

To the youth resorting to methods that are beyond them...

Because all they want to do is protect their families

So they've created a #NoFlyZone on their own

Because they've had it with the empty promises

And it just raises this one question...

And our hearts are with these children...who have proved to be the heroes of today and the future
