According to the latest news reports, Guy Ritchie, the director of Disney's live-action version of "Aladdin," is now casting Indian actors for the lead roles in the film.
This comes as an apparent response to backlash the production team recently received after a news spread revealed that Tom Hardy was being considered for the role of "Jafar."
Now, while the aim seems to be a more authentic representation of the film's characters, the latest news, hasn't gone down too well with many Arabs on social media.
This is especially because earlier announcements made by Disney had stated the film would feature a full Middle Eastern cast.
Previous reports also revealed that the production team hired an Egyptian casting director to help them find perfect leads.
Many Arabs aren't happy with the latest reports
Ever since the latest news reports started circulating on social media a few weeks back, Arabs have been taking to the platforms to express their frustration.
A few are angry
Angry is an understatement
Others are making this argument
So many people are confused
Not all reactions are negative though
Even though there are many negative reactions to the latest "Aladdin" casting reports, a few see nothing wrong with featuring Indian actors in the film's lead roles.
Some are actually quite excited about the news and a few already have suggestions.
