Saudi student Sara Alrabiah won NASA's top Award at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), Al Arabiya reported Wednesday.
The young student received the award for a project focused on "improving resistive RAMs’ performance by using single crystal Perovskites," during a ceremony held last week.
Speaking to Al-Arabiya, Alrabiah said the secret behind her success is her father, who's always believed in her.
Held annually, ISEF is considered the world’s largest international pre-college science competition. It brings together around 1,700 high school students competitors from all over the world.
A video of Alrabiah being announced as the winner has gone viral, with thousands sharing it across various social media platforms.
After arriving back home, Alrabiah spoke to Saudi television
In an interview for a local Saudi television, Alrabiah expressed her sense of pride for participating in ISEF alongside a team of Saudi students and went on to dedicate her achievement to them.
Other than Alrabiah, students Aamar Amir, Rana Al Salmi, Dana Al Khalidi and Nadia Al Motlaq also scored impressive wins for Saudi Arabia.
Shortly after news of Alrabia's win began circulating online, Saudis took to social media, congratulating her on her achievement via the hashtag: ساره_الربيعة#
