Andrew J. Bowen used to be a regular columnist for the English-language Saudi newspaper Arab News ... but not anymore.

Bowen has been applying for a job with the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, but there's one problem. He's written some very anti-Trump columns in the past.

Not wanting this to effect his job prospects, Bowen asked Arab News to remove these problematic columns. When the newspaper refused, citing media ethics, Bowen threatened to use powerful connections to get his way.

So, Arab News simply decided it no longer would be working with Bowen in the future.

"Arab News regrettably announces that it will discontinue publishing articles by US columnist Andrew Bowen," the newspaper's editorial board said in a statement published on its website, which appears to have since been removed.

"The reason behind this decision is the columnist insisting that this newspaper deletes previous articles dating back prior to the recent US election where he was in favor of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton," the statement said.

"Mr. Bowen also insinuated — verbally and in writing — that he will seek the support of influential friends and contacts to help remove the articles. Arab News possesses all correspondence relating to this matter and its position is that such a request is unprofessional journalistically, particularly given that there were no factual errors or libelous comments that require a redaction or correction."

"We wish Mr. Bowen the best of luck in his job application."

Some on Twitter found the situation quite comical

The editors definitely wanted to make a point

And some showed just why Bowen was concerned

But hey, as Arab News said, "best of luck" to Bowen on his job application ...
