Every country and every city has its own set of objects that are present on in its streets, there are always these unique things that make you feel like you can't be anywhere else in the world other than where you are.
This is definitely true when it comes to Egypt and its streets, as they are filled with objects that one can only describe as Egyptian, because it just wouldn't fit anywhere else.
1. The sidewalk chair
It doesn't matter where you are in an Egyptian city, there's somehow always a chair on the sidewalk and the chairs are all so different and personalized. The diversity of Cairo's chairs and what they say about society and culture even inspired a photography project, "Sidewalk Salon: 1001 Street Chairs of Cairo" .
2. The kiosk
In almost every corner of a street in Egypt there's a small kiosk that somehow always has everything you need, from refreshments and snacks to newspapers and phone credit vouchers.
3. The vegetable cart
The rolling vegetable cart is always there somewhere in the Egyptian street, it most probably has fruits too, there's never a lack of grocery shopping options.
4. The abandoned car
If you were to roam city streets in Egypt, you'd probably come across an old abandoned car by the side of the road at some point, and it would probably be a classic Beetle or a Fiat 128.
5. The Egyptian coffee shop
You'll also probably never be craving some Turkish coffee for too long, as there's always an Egyptian coffee shop right around the corner.
6. The food and beverage cart
Every country has its unique street food, and in Egypt the cart that sells the popular fava beans dish 'ful medames' is almost everywhere, as is the cart that sells popular juices such as licorice.
7. The glass of tea
It may or may not be accompanied by a silver tray, but there's always someone drinking tea from a mug-shaped glass while sitting on the previously mentioned chair.
8. A piece of history
No matter what city, neighborhood or street you're in, there's always a piece of heritage lying around somewhere, often in the form of an old building from a different era.
9. The flower shop
The small shop on the sidewalk that has flower stems sticking out of its windows and flower pots in front of it is also a ubiquitous sight.
