With social media on the rise, being in a relationship is getting more complicated. Here are eight things all couples should avoid on social media to maintain a healthy relationship.

1. Relationship statuses

Spare yourselves the questions and keep your relationship status unknown. That way you don’t have to worry about that status every time you and your lover fight.

2. Stalking a lover's ex

It is easy to just click that profile and start comparing ourselves to our boyfriend’s ex, wondering what they ever saw in them.

But don't do it! It is only be a waste of time. It is no good to harbor the negative energy that comes from jealousy and the compulsive behavior of checking again “just to make sure they’ve got nothing on us.”

3. Lover’s activity

Just because you can watch your lover’s activity on Facebook doesn’t mean you should. Stop paying attention to what they like, comment on and share. Hang out in real life, it is way better. We promise.

4. Facebook your problems

It’s easy to type an arrogant comment when you’re mad at your boy, but hold that comment, think it through and don’t expose your troubles on social media. Remember what goes on social stays on social and you can’t take it back, not when it showed in everyone’s news feed. Stay classy.

5. Mindlessly browse your newsfeed during together time

Checking your Facebook newsfeed is like going to the fridge every 2 minutes when you're home alone. We get it, it is a habit. But don't let it stick, especially when you are one-on-one with your lover. There is nothing more annoying than a habibi who won't get off their Facebook.

6. Friending exs

Being in a relationship doesn't mean you can't stay in touch with people who were dear to your heart, just don't get carried away it. If it's not a conversation that you would want your lover to read, then don't start it.

7. Going online when you're mad at the world

In order to avoid doing something you might regret later like sending a friend request to the wrong person just to make your lover jealous, just log off until you cool down.

8. Count down to your anniversary

Whatever you do, don't spam people with countdowns to your anniversary. It is annoying. And sad.
