Growing up as a girl who isn't really into cooking may be somewhat troublesome, especially if you’re an Arab. If I had a dollar for every time someone commented that you won’t get married because of your lack of interest for kitchen activities, I would be filthy rich by now.

Even though I know that there are much more important things that influence a person's marital status, the following kitchen gadgets may very well turn my situation around. While some are techie, others are designed in a way that makes me want to love the kitchen. Not only have they sparked my interest for cooking, but I actually think I can pull cooking off like a boss with their assistance.

1. Drop kitchen: connected scale and recipe app

Baking is to cooks what the underwater level is to gamers. The harder, more advanced level. Bottom line is, baking is never the thing for a cooking noob. But not if you’re using Drop, it seems.

Drop is a smart scale which connects to an iPad app equipped with all sort of baking recipes. Once you select the recipe, the app will tell you exactly how much of each ingredient you need to put in. All you need to do is put a bowl on the smart scale, and keep adding the ingredient until the app asks you stop.

Second to the difficulty level of nailing baking is serving grilled goodies at the right amount of juiciness. Thanks to Palate Smart Grill from Palate Home, an iPad app will tell you how much cooking is needed based on the weight, composition and how you like your food cooked.

3. Pantelligent

A clever cook will always know how much something is cooked by sticking a fork in it. But if you don’t have that much experience sticking forks in your cooking steak, chicken or fish, you may not really know what to expect. That’s why Pantelligent, along with a corresponding iPhone app lets you know the exact temperature inside your cooking food and notifies you with the perfect cooking duration.

 

4. Stackable pyramid measuring cups

Because adding just about the right amount of ingredients is core to cooking, it’s a good idea to have this pyramid of measuring cups at hand. Even if you don’t use it that often, it’s still colorful and adds glee to your kitchen.

5. Fondue mugs

Let’s face it, no matter how fancy your assortment of cheese is, your fondue is no good if it’s not the right amount of molten.
